Speech! Speech!

Tonight, the POTUS, will make a speech to the US congress about his plan to fix the economy.  From the limited amount I’ve heard he will put forward a plan to cut spending. That’s right, a Democrat cutting spending… interesting.  I’m not sure how much support the man will get in congress from his “friend” Madame Speaker Peloci, but I’m interested to see if he can do it, besides just cutting military spending.  A reduction or streamlining of government spending would be a huge step in the right direction both for Liberty, and free market, but might help us (the collective us, including we Canuks) climb ourselves out of the recession faster.

Government spending cuts was coincidentally a topic covered by Juan Enriquez in his  TED talk this year which I passed along to you a few days ago.

Also: Passing along a short blurb I found on CATO about Obama’s weak knees on the issue, and we will see for sure exactly where he stands and what, or IF he plans to do about it tonight.

More on this later tonight, I’ll talk about what I think of the plan and if any of it could do any good.

• 3/4 of high-fast growning industrys require greater then high school eduacation, only half of students go on to college.  How about we listen to people like Gates n Co and ensure schools reward good teaching and not tenure.

• Obama asks YOU to get more education. Don’t drop out of school. It not only hurts you, it hurts your country. Powerful statement, its true though. Lets raise level skilled labor.
• Please Volenteer….National Service. Hatch + Kenedy have a bill about….national service?

• Free of Earmarks? What part of Porkulus doesn’t make sence. GOP didn’t like that.
• End education that doesnt work, and cut farm subsidies for firms that don’t need them. OMFG i just came in my pants. lets hope he can pull That off.

• No Tax increase for poor people. Tax cut for 95% of families. This will only work if you can reallly cut spending.

• Men and Women in uniform….quiet burden… honor your service. unyielding suport.
• Note. US military is traditionally not suposed to clap at these things. they are Supposed to be non bias to policy, which sends or doesn’t send them abroad.  This changed with Bush years/  9-11

• USA Does not Torture. Standing on Principals. Good thing to see.

Ok ok Clap clap. Good speech. Good ideas good start, but we all know it won’t get done the way it should. If it works at all. Bigger Government, more control, more rules. less freedom. Wasted money on Carbon Guilt Credits.

I invite the US government and the PoTUS and his staff to prove me wrong.

The best part for me was cutting subsidies for agriculture. and the attempt to fix education. lets hope it works.  When he talked about working with other countries to become prosperous together, it sorta conflicted with his statement about how the best things should be built in America. Oh well what can you expect from a politician?
